Beyond Boundaries is a unique physical, emotional and peer group adventure for young people whose lives are challenged by homelessness, who may be struggling with substance abuse, mental health issues or may be leaving care without a new support system in place. By taking young people out of their normal environments and distractions of their everyday lives and in their cities powerful learning can take place.

UK Beyond Boundaries programme supports young people to develop the skills and confidence they need become independent young adults.

Through journeying, adventure and volunteering in some of the UK's wildest landscapes and remote communities young people learn and practice the skills they need to successfully live independently. We help people to discover that they have something to offer to others and how they can play a positive role in a community.

It's a powerful learning environment. When you are caught out here in the storm you don't stand there shouting in the wind - you realise you have to change your sail instead.

George's Story-

"After years of wasting my life, and being stuck in the same old cycle of drugs and negativity I was ready for a change. I realised it was all on me. I had to clean up my act, get my life sorted, start making plans and basically turn my life around. The best thing about Chance For Change is being given a chance. I feel as if I have really grown up, not just become more independent, but become a better person. Chance For Change has built up my confidence, given me stability, given me a positive environment in which I can flourish, and helped me become a stronger and more positive person.

I would say my biggest achievement was figuring my life out, and making plans for my future. I also had the opportunity to immerse myself in beautiful landscapes and meet people who have affected my life in a tremendously positive way. If it was not for Chance For Change I would not be making a fresh start in a new city and continuing my education."

John, participant

“I have taken in more lessons and experiences within a month than I did in a year of school. Seeing that my responsibilities are more important than entertainment. Started seeing the importance of nutrition, diet and lifestyle. If it wasn’t for Beyond Boundaries I wouldn’t be getting a fresh start in a new city and continuing my education."

Emma, Participnat 2016

"Beyond Boundaries has showed me how to turn my dreams into achievable goals."

David, Participant 2017

"I have learnt so much on this journey. I have learnt to communicate my feelings, and to reach out to people and help them if I can. Knowing people's boundaries, knowing when is the time to give them space or help. I have learnt humility - that this is not just about myself, but about the community."
