WILDERNESS-BASED PERSONAL & PROFESSIONALDEVELOPMENT

BEYOND RESILIENCE

powerful wilderness experiences combining the restorative power of nature with personal & professional development training

Our journeys enable body & mind to destress, and nourish & restore

mental, emotional and cognitive wellbeing and capacity.

Participants reconnect with their vitality, creativity and full potential, become receptive to new learning,

and return to their lives and work recharged, with new enthusiasm, direction and power.

Participants are enabled to gain effective control over behaviour patterns and acquire new resilience-building strategies which replenish inner resources. Partcipants return to their lives and work recharged, with new enthusiasm, resilience, direction and power.

  • for young people with challenging histories

  • for people who work with people

  • for people from the private/corporate sector

Beyond Resilience enables body & mind to destress, and nourishes & restores emotional and cognitive wellbeing and capacity.

The demands of modern life and stressful work environments often have an impact on our personal resources and require resilience - a critical trait which provides the energy to bounce back in the face of challenge. However, a state of semi or even permanent resistance to and struggle with pressure is not healthy.

When we are living in an unsustainable way, we can lose sight of ourselves, feel that we have nothing left (to give) and as a result become less personally effective - in all aspects of our lives. If we are to maintain and regain effectiveness, we need to go Beyond Resilience.

Our wilderness journeys prevent and address the depletion of inner resources and enable participants to reconnect -with themselves, with each other and with nature.

Our unique and powerful programmes enable people to recharge their batteries, nourish their wellbeing and help to build effectiveness and resilience in individuals & organisations.

Previously located in the Lake District and on the Isle of Rhum we now operate all Chance For Change 7-day wilderness journeys on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula -an area of outstanding natural beauty on the West Coast of Scotland.

Travel in landrovers and accommodation in high-quality tipis are key elements of this adventurous and deeply nourishing experience.

By taking people out of their normal environments, away from the distractions of our everyday lives and cities - and into one of the UK's remotest, most pristine, wild and beautiful places- our wilderness journeys provide an extraordinary space and time for restoration, reflection and new learning.

TAPPING INTO THE TRANSFORMATIVE

POWER OF NATURE

RECHARGING

OUR OWN

NATURE

For Young people with difficult histories -whose lives may be challenged by homelessness, substance abuse or mental health issues or who may be leaving care without a new support system in place- this programme offers time and space to gain a better understanding of themselves, to reflect on what it is they need and want to change in their lives, and provides them with strategies and skills to put those changes into action.

Our wilderness programmes are tuned to the specific needs of each group.

For people from the private/corporate sector

This programme addresses the stresses and strains of a pressurised working environment and offers new strategies to tackle pressures differently. Prevent burnout, increase mental wellbeing, performance, clarity and organisational capacity through this powerful wideness-based training course.

For people in social work related professions, such as youth workers or other carers, this programme addresses and prevents emotional burnout, enables staff to reflect on their working environments and develop strategies for improvement.

It's a powerful learning environment. When you are caught out here in the storm you don't stand there shouting in the wind - you realise you have to change your sail instead.

Agnes Bell,
C4C Outdoor Education Instructor

There is no doubt that participants of this programme are very different people to those who started. These young adults now have positive stories to tell and are confident, competent and independent.
